It's Time To Demand Change!

Benefits Of Our Natural Resources

  •  The Bahamas is a land filled with abundant natural resources. From vast marine life to salt, aragonite, and oil reserves, this nation has the potential to thrive.  Despite these valuable resources, everyday Bahamians see little to no benefit. Who really profits from our wealth?  Take our fisheries, our waters are among the most abundant in the world. Yet, large foreign entities capitalize on our marine wealth, while local fishermen struggle to stay afloat.  Then there’s aragonite a valuable mineral used in construction, manufacturing, and even environmental restoration. Millions of dollars’ worth of this resource are extracted and shipped overseas, but how much of that money stays in the hands of Bahamians?  The reality? Foreign corporations profit, while the Bahamian people are left with empty promises.

Support Fair Wages In The Bahamas

  • The Bahamas is known for its breathtaking beauty, world-class tourism, and vibrant culture. But beneath the paradise lies a growing concern one that affects thousands of hardworking  Bahamians every day.  The cost of living in the Bahamas is among the highest in the world. Basic necessities food, rent, electricity are expensive, making it difficult for the average worker to make ends meet.  Imported goods make up nearly 90% of the products in stores, leading to high prices. A gallon of milk can cost up to $10, a loaf of bread $5, and rent for a modest apartment can exceed $1,500 per month. Yet, many Bahamians are earning minimum wage or barely above it leaving them struggling to cover the basics.  The minimum wage in the Bahamas is $260 per week, but the average cost of living requires much more. Many workers in tourism, retail, and services are underpaid, despite their vital role in the economy.  With millions of visitors and billions in revenue generated from tourism each year, the question arises—why aren’t wages reflecting the real cost of living?

Family Islands Redevelopment

  • The Bahamas has over 700 islands and cays, why should one island bear the burden of the entire nation’s economy, while the rest remain overlooked?  New Providence our capital city is home to over 70% of the country’s population. This island faces major congestion, overpopulation, and strain on resources.  Every day, thousands of Bahamians struggle with high living costs, overcrowding, and limited opportunities in Nassau. But beyond this island lies a different reality, one of potential, but also neglect.  Poor infrastructure, lack of investment, and minimal job opportunities has kept Bahamians trapped in a cycle where moving to Nassau seems like the only choice.  The JSL is committed to developing the islands that have the space, resources, and potential for a better future.  We will invest in the Family Islands creating jobs, reducing the strain on Nassau, and ensuring a more balanced, sustainable Bahamas.   The JSL will assure to the continued construction of proper roads, hospitals, and schools.  We will rebuild the infrastructure to insure necessities such as clean water, reliable power, and internet access

Policies That Work

  • There is a growing demand for fair policies in The Bahamas.  This Fight is not just about survival of our Nation as a people but about our dignity, progress, and ensuring that those who keep the economy running can also share in its prosperity.  The people of the Bahamas deserve transparency. They deserve policies that ensure our natural wealth benefits us all not just international investors and elites. It’s time for real conversations. It’s time for real solutions. The Bahamas is rich not just in beauty, but in resources. And it’s time we all share in that wealth.
